Woodmen of the World Charity donates flags to Honor Flight of Southern New Mexico

Front to back or l to r: Kirby Prickett, Judy Chavarria, Abel Chavarria, Kathy Olson, Linda Widbur, Kit Elliott, Valerie Cano. Abel and Judy are with Woodmen of the World and the rest of the group are volunteers and/or board members with HFSNM.

Abel and Judy Chavarria, representing Woodmen of the World donated three flags to Honor Flight of Southern New Mexico earlier this month. One primary focus of the charitable group, associated with Woodmen of the World Life Insurance Society, is to give away flags. The Chavarrias say the organization is second only to the U.S. government in the distribution of flags.

In this case the Woodmen ordered special flags for HFSNM at the request of Operations Coordinator Kathy Olson. The Honor Flight group will take the flags with them to Washington, D.C. in October as they travel with 27 veterans on Mission 10 to visit their memorials. The special flags will be taken in honor of some deceased veterans. Abel Chavarria noted that his father had enjoyed participating in a past Honor Flight.

Thank you Woodmen of the World!
