This evening, 10 recipe finalists gathered to present their original recipes to a panel of judges. After much deliberation, there was a tie and two winners were selected. Sabrina Slavson won for her Sweet Tea and Peach Cupcakes and Joe Tezak won for his Artichoke and Roasted Bell Pepper Calzone. The winning recipes were selected based on taste, presentation, and creativity. Each one included ingredients from Dion’s.
Recipe finalists prepared everything from chile rellenos to waffled pizza dippers made with a Spider-Man waffle iron. Both winners took home free Dion’s for a year and each finalist received a gift card.
Judges included Mark Herman, CEO of Dion’s, and Steve Stucker, an Albuquerque Meteorologist, and Radio DJ, Carlos D. Finalists were selected from fans who shared recipes on Facebook and Instagram. Herman said, “I was impressed by the creativity used in the recipes. We saw everything from our sweet tea used in cupcake icing to our dressing used in pasta salad. All the finalists were outstanding and I am grateful so many took the time to participate.”
