Together We Can Do More

gtnm-squareThis year #GivingTuesdayNM is on November 29, 2016, this is our statewide coalition that is part of the global day of giving known as #GivingTuesday.

What is #GivingTuesday?

#GivingTuesday is an internationally recognized day of giving. It takes place the Tuesday after Thanksgiving – you know, Black Friday, Cyber Monday…Giving Tuesday. Now in its fifth year, #GivingTuesday was started by the 92nd Street Y in New York City in an effort to promote volunteerism and philanthropy at a time of year when both need in our communities and consumerism are at the highest.

Why #GivingTuesdayNM?

New Mexico nonprofits have been participating in #GivingTuesday but until last year there had not been a coordinated statewide effort. This branded, local initiative makes it easier for donors, volunteers and other organizations to find New Mexico organizations running #GivingTuesday campaigns.

#GivingTuesdayNM was co-created by two New Mexico nonprofit professionals who thought there might be receptivity to a statewide coalition. Sure enough, 110 New Mexico nonprofits leveraged the power of collaboration and collectively raised close to $300,000 on December 1, 2015!

Nonprofits, join the coalition, download the participant toolkit and access other resources at www.GivingTuesdayNM.org
