There’s a Better Way…

Over the past year and a half- the Better Way program in Albuquerque has cleaned up 418 city blocks – 121,601 lbs. of trash and weeds

  • Provided over 1759 day jobs
  • Connected over 226 people to long-term employment opportunities
  • Connected 20 people to permanent housing
  • Connected 156 people to mental health and substance abuse services
  • With a initial budget of $50,000 and generous community support like from funders like ACF/GGG, the City has budgeted $181,000 for There’s a better way in Fiscal year 2017
  • A video that has been seen over 18 million times /  Mayor Berry was recently asked to present this idea on the national TEDX stage of Pennsylvania Avenue  – A forum set up for speakers to share their visionary ideas for the next 10 years.  The mission of the forum is to spark connection, conversation, and community among policy makers in Washington D.C. who might not otherwise have an opportunity to meet and innovative share ideas.
  • Over 9 communities throughout the United States have adopted similar programs to Albuquerque’s “There’s a Better Way.”
