Opportunity to Celebrate “Everything Pie” Early This Year with the Biggest Assortment of Sweet and Savory Pies – and “Pi-Ella” – at Vara Winery on March 10th
LifeROOTS, the central New Mexico not-for-profit organization providing programs and services for children and adults with disabilities, is about to make National Pi Day, and their annual Pi(e) Day Event, sweeter than ever. For the past five years, the not-for-profit organization has been bringing the community together for a fun and festive celebration of National Pi Day unlike anything else in the region – and this year, LifeROOTS is so excited about its Pi(e) Day Event that it is giving people the opportunity to celebrate National Pi days a few days earlier, in a spectacular new location – and with “infinite” new ways to celebrate everything pie … all while raising money for an important local cause.
The 6th Annual LifeROOTS Pi(e) Day Event will take place on Tuesday, March 10th from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the beautiful Vara Winery, located at 315 Alameda Park Drive NE (off Alameda Blvd, West of Balloon Fiesta Park) in Albuquerque. This year, in addition to a spectacular backdrop, the family-friendly “all-you-can-eat” fundraising event will feature the biggest-ever assortment of sweet and savory pies made by some of the region’s top chefs and bakers … as well as a special “Pi-Ella” (paella) dish created by Vara Winery chefs. In addition, attendees will have the opportunity to purchase an assortment of delectable take-home pies, wines and other “pie-centric” specialty items. Once again, the unique fundraising event will be raising money to purchase much-needed equipment to help LifeROOTS best serve the needs of those with disabilities in the community.
The annual event has grown into one of the region’s most anticipated (and delicious) family fundraisers, and will feature pies from many of the area’s top bakeries and restaurants, including Christy Mae’s, Chello, Pizza 9, Red Rock Roasters and daVinci’s Pizza. LifeROOTS is once again honored to have US Bank serve as a Title Sponsor for the fundraiser – which each year gathers hundreds of “pie-lovers” throughout the region their opportunity to join together for a delicious evening of fun and fundraising.
The after work/all-you-can-eat event allows donors to enter for just $20.00 to taste a wide variety of pies– including fruit pies, pizza pies and other gourmet pies – as well as an assortment of delicious non-alcoholic beverages. In addition, what makes this event truly
unique each year is the LifeROOTS “Throw a Pie in the Face of Management” event – giving people the opportunity to throw a whipped cream pie at their boss, co-worker or a number of local business leaders who have volunteered to be part of the fun and fundraising. Money raised at this year’s event will be used to enable LifeROOTS to meet the increased need of individuals being served through the State waiver programs. Previous LifeROOTS Pi(e) Day Events have enabled the organization to purchase adjustable changing tables (helping to decrease safety issues for staff and the people they serve), as well as purchase high quality lightweight aluminum wheelchairs and accessible tables/chairs for the individuals with disabilities that they serve.
The LifeROOTS Pi(e) Day Event is still accepting sponsors for this unique and fun event, and welcomes business leaders who are interested in helping raise money for a good cause by being part of this year’s Pi(e) Day Event fundraiser.
