Saranam – Move In Day

Bedroom“My baby has never had a bed! Thank you so much – this is home.” This week, Saranam introduced 13 new families to their apartments. The excitement and gratitude is overwhelming as we watch parents move from room to room in awe of each special touch and the beauty of their new home. “It was like the decorators knew me.”  The children dive into the toys and books, one little boy immediately discovering the battery that make his little chair talk. Through tears, one mother said she will show her gratitude through working very hard. Another said she was sure she’d cry herself to sleep tonight.

The love and care that each of Saranam volunteers took is evident in every nook and cranny – messages of hope, welcoming cards, homemade cookies, school supplies and more. Our families feel the love and will be eternally grateful.

HomeAfter receiving 68 applications and interviewing 24 families, 13 were accepted and once again we are operating at capacity – 21 adults and 40 children. Saranam new children’s therapist and program coordinator will have their hands full but are eager to provide the children with the same intensive therapy and life skills that their parents will receive. They will not only grow as individuals but will have the opportunity to thrive as a family

Once Saranam discovered that out of the 27 new children, 13 were under the age of 2, volunteers scrambled to rearrange apartments, help put together new cribs and place high chairs in many of the kitchen.

Thanks to all volunteers and donors, this promises to be a year of continued hope and opportunity for Saranam and their families.
