It’s tax time! Tax preparation services are free for New Mexicans whose annual income is less than $53,000 (or for those who are 65 and older regardless of income) through Tax Help New Mexico. There are more than 30 Tax Help sites around the state, staffed by volunteers who have passed an IRS certification exam. Last year served more than 22,000 lower income New Mexicans by preparing 32,904 returns and returning $20,008,602 to those taxpayers and New Mexico.
Tax Help New Mexico is a partnership of United Way, CNM Community College, and the Internal Revenue Service. For more information, visit www.cnm.edu/taxhelp or call United Way of Central New Mexico. To locate a site, people can dial 2-1-1, the Information and Referral line operated by United Way.
Tax Help New Mexico is just one of the many ways that United Way of Central New Mexico (and the other United Way organizations across the state) is actively improving the lives of New Mexicans. To learn more, visit http://www.uwcnm.org/our-work/tax-help-nm
