Intel Employees Recognized as Community Heroes

This proclamation, presented on the 27th day of July, 2017 by the Sandoval County Commission, is in recognition of the community involvement and contributions of the Intel employees to the surrounding community of the City of Rio Rancho and Sandoval County.

Whereas, since 1980 when Intel Corporation first located in Sandoval County and now has operated their manufacturing facilities here for the past thirty-seven years; and

Whereas, in the last thirty-seven years Intel and their employees, as well as the Intel Foundation, have contributed over $75 million to K-12 education, secondary and post-secondary education, non-profit and other charitable organizations across New Mexico to support and enable solutions to social and education challenges in our community; and

Whereas, Intel employees have volunteered over 600,000 hours of their time in the community and those employee volunteer hours have been matched by grants from the Intel Foundation totaling more than $3 million to benefit local schools and community-based non-profit organizations; and

Whereas, during the holiday season each year, Intel employees adopt hundreds of families in Sandoval County delivering food and presents to many individuals; and

Whereas, each year Intel employees purchase and deliver school backpacks, complete with all the required school supplies, to K-12 students in the county; and

Whereas, the Sandoval County Board of Commissioners are proud and honored to have the opportunity to recognize the kind and generous community contribution of Intel and its employees to the citizens of Sandoval County.

NOW THEREFORE, THE SANDOVAL COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS HEREBY ACKNOWLEDGES AND RECOGNIZES THE COMMUNITY CONTRIBUTION OF INTEL EMPLOYEES AND ISSUES THIS PROCLAMATION DECLARING INTEL EMPLOYEES, SANDOVAL COUNTY COMMUNITY HEROES.
