Goodwill Industries of New Mexico is seeking participants for an upcoming series of employment skills seminars geared towards veterans and family members. The free seminars will be offered at various locations throughout the Albuquerque metro area from May 18 through June 30. Registrations are now being accepted for these limited seating engagements.
The seminars are being offered as part of a new program called Veteran Family Services (VFS). The VFS program is designed for veterans and family members with the goal of securing stable community based employment. Eligible participants will gain access to Goodwill’s training classes, job development services, assessment services and TrialWorks trainings. The VFS program, like all of Goodwill programs and services, is offered free of charge. To qualify for the program and seminars, participants only need to be 18 years of age or older and have a family member who is a veteran.
The VFS employment skills seminars will take approximately three hours to complete. It will cover resume building, interview skills and soft skills such as how to dress for success and appropriate work communication. Taking the class significantly increases an individual’s ability to secure more interviews, gain employment more quickly and land a job that pays a higher wage.
