At Dion’s, we consider our employees our family. This giving season, Dion’s is inspired by Liam Hansen, son of one of our general managers, Josh. During his battle with leukemia, four-year-old Liam finds help and hope through the Children’s Cancer Fund of New Mexico (CCFNM). In their continual desire to give back, the Hansens have spearheaded the second annual Dion’s Toy Drive to benefit CCFNM. In addition to this effort, Dion’s is also raising, and matching, funds to personally support the Hansens with Liam’s leukemia treatments.
Toys can be dropped off Monday-Friday through December 21 from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the Dion’s Home Office at 8525 Jefferson NE, Albuquerque, NM, 87113.
Led by the Hansens, all toys will be given to CCFNM, which helps children with cancer and their families cope with the day-to-day educational, emotional and financial needs of living with and fighting cancer.
Inspired by their strength and kindness, Dion’s is also raising money to support the Hansens with costs related to Liam’s ongoing treatment. Dion’s encourages its customers and community members to consider donating to the Hansen’s GoFundMe page. From November 27-December 23, Dion’s will match up to $3,000 in donations to the Hansens. Donations can be made here.
“These efforts take on an extra meaning when they are personal,” Dion’s CEO, Mark Herman, said. “Josh and his family are resilient, generous, and inspiring, by continually making a difference in the lives of others and their community. Josh came to us last year with the idea of the toy drive, and it was an immense success with over 400 toys collected. We’re thrilled to do it again, especially during this holiday season, in addition to raising money to support the Hansens during this time of need.”
