Dion’s Collects More than 400 Donated Toys in Honor of an Employee’s Son

Over the past few months, Dion’s has collected more than 400 toys to donate to Children’s Cancer Fund of New Mexico (CCFNM) in honor of an employee’s son. Liam, the son of Josh Hansen, the General Manager of the Dion’s on High Resort Blvd. in Rio Rancho, was diagnosed with Leukemia in April. When Liam was diagnosed, many Dion’s employees gathered to support the Hansen family. When Hansen was asked how Dion’s could help, he suggested collecting toys to donate to CCFNM. Since then, more than 400 toys have been donated!

Many of those donations were touching, including handmade wooden airplanes and a superhero collection a woman donated that had belonged to her brother, who has passed. Josh Hansen and other Dion’s employees will deliver the donated toys to CCFNM on Monday, October 2, 2017.

Hansen said, “We’ve been overwhelmed by the generosity of all those who donated toys to help kids battling cancer. The CCFNM Toy Closet has helped our entire family endure Liam’s chemotherapy treatments and we are happy to be able to help them in return. Thank you for helping us to give back to CCFNM!”

Mark Herman, CEO of Dion’s, said, “We’ve been honored by the number of people who have stopped by our Home Office with donations. The bins and boxes of toys have overtaken our reception area in the best way possible. I’m grateful for those who have donated toys in honor of Liam.”
