ABEC 13th Annual Children’s Book Drive

book drive 2The Albuquerque Business Education Compact (ABEC) 13th Annual Children’s Book Drive added the final touch to their Campaign “Read to Me! ¡Léame!” on April 2 at the Central and Unser Transit Center.

Volunteers were available to accept donations of children’s books. Books are made available on every city bus for kids to enjoy reading while riding. The kids are welcome to take the books with them to enjoy at home as well.

Nick Manole, with the City of Albuquerque Transit department, makes sure there are always books available on the buses. He said an unexpected outcome is that many adults are learning to read as well. Paula Delap-Padilla, from the City of Albuquerque, was also on hand to receive donations.

Book labelingAnna, Megan, and Alexandria, from Volcano Vista HS Wings Squad (Key Club) were on hand to put labels in the books.
