ELP Celebrates Re-opening with Ribbon Cutting with Mayor Hull in Attendance
Today, Early Learning Preschool celebrated their re-opening with a ribbon cutting, with Mayor Hull in attendance. Like many other schools, Early Learning Preschool closed this past March. Now, they are excited to open again and serve their students and families.
Dina Araujo, Early Learning Preschool’s Director, said, “Last month the Early Childhood Education and Care Department was officially established, and they have provided us with great resources and guidance in our re-opening, and we are following their re-opening guidelines. We’re putting many procedures in place to promote social distancing and keep our students and their families safe.”
Early Learning Preschool did not want their students missing out on any learning experiences, so they created individual ways for their students to participate including:
- Individual Sensory Boxes, since shared sensory bins are not allowed.
- Library Envelopes, labeled with each child’s name, so they are not sharing books as they are difficult to sanitize.
- Individual toolboxes with scissors, markers, pencils, crayons, and glue, to reduce supply sharing.
Araujo said, “Things like sensory and reading books are very important to children’s development. We didn’t want our students to miss out on these learning experiences, so we found creative ways for them to still play with sensory items and read books.”
Early Learning Preschool still has some spots available in their Pre-K and Early Pre-K classes for the 2020-2021 school year and is also working on a distance-learning option.
